This ceremony is an ancient Indian ritual that is performed every morning at the ashram, in keeping with Vedic tradition. Its purpose is to invoke the elements of earth, water, fire, air and ether and the essence or Consciousness within which they exist. Fire is a great transformer and what remains when the herbs are burned is their sweet aroma or essence. This and the vibration of the mantras are said to purify the atmosphere and radiate peace.
